How to get involved

The congregation is organized into work teams.  All team meetings are open to anyone who wishes to attend and be involved. See the calendar pages for days and times of the various meetings.  The teams are as follows:

Worship and Spirituality Team works on special ways to enhance our worship experience and plans special worship events.

Mission and Ministry Team works on ways to meet needs in the community and the world.  The Food Pantry is under their leadership, along with involvement in the annual CROP Walk.  A new experience this fall will be hosting an Ecumenical Mission Partner who will be with us for 6 weeks.

Fellowship and Caring Team plans a special social event each month.  Popular events include a fall Barn Party, a winter Themed Dinner, and a spring outing to the musical by the Gratiot County Players.

Christian Education Team is currently under re-construction with the major focus being Treasured Toddlers and providing childcare during worship.

Generosity Team works on improving our stewardship with year round intentional activities.

Buildings and Grounds Team works on maintenance and upgrades to our building, along with an annual painting and planting event in the Spring.

FOOD PANTRY can always use volunteers!   The Ithaca Food Pantry is housed at our church and is open every Wednesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m.  The 2nd Wednesday of each month we also have evening hours, 6:30-7:30.

Donations are also appreciated!  $10.00 will purchase 40 lbs of food from the Red Cross Food Bank in Lansing, from which we order most of our food.  Or maybe you have excess veggies in your garden that you’d like to share.  Other items that are always appreciated are personal needs items such as soaps, deodorants, feminine hygiene products, toothpaste, etc.

CHOIR is another way to be involved.  This small group of singers puts out an amazing sound under the leadership of Bob Crist.  The choir sings in worship September through May.  Two special events are a Christmas Cantata and a Palm Sunday Cantata.  The music is not difficult.  Practices include almost as much laughter as singing!  The choir practices Sunday evenings at 6:30 and again on Sunday morning at 10:00,  just prior to worship.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES are planned by our Fellowship and Caring Team.  There is an activity almost every month.  Some examples include:  a themed dinner in Feb. or March; going to a play together; impromptu dinner after worship at a local restaurant.

SMALL GROUP BIBLE STUDIES:

Sunday morning at 9:15 — This group is led by Dr. Dale Nester and follows a curriculum which relates a particular scripture passage to daily life.

Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 — This group is led by the pastor.  Participants read and discuss the lectionary passages for the up-coming Sunday and find that their worship experience is enriched by having discussed the passages used for the sermon.

Women’s Circles: Circle 1 meets the first Tuesday of the month at 9:30.  Ada Chapin is the chair person.  Circle 2 meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 1:00 and Bertha Pendell is the chair.  Tabitha Circle meets the1st Tuesday evening of the month at 7 p.m. at the church.  Beginning in September each of these groups will be using the Presbyterian Women’s Bible Study materials on Joshua and the situation in the Middle East from the time of Joshua to the present.
